Notes From A Pattern Designer

Non-Member lecture tickets available January 1, 2025.

Audra Rasnake, a fourth-generation quilter from Meadowview, VA, will join us in April. Spending time under the quilt frame and learning from the wise women in her family taught her many quilting tricks, including how to make templates from the plastic in a bacon package. Fast forward a few years and she is now an award-winning quilter with much to teach us all. Hadassah, her first show quilt, was displayed in 18 shows winning 16 ribbons, many of which are blue. In speaking of her success, Audra says, “God gave me my gift, but that first quilt gave me my wings.”

Audra works on one quilt at a time, enjoying each step in the process, except the basting. She deplores basting, but acknowledges it is an important step. And in case you’re wondering, one quilt takes her about 18 months. In this lecture Audra will pull back the curtain and give us a glimpse into the journey she takes as she creates her stunning quilts.

Thursday Workshop: Cutwork Your Way
